Perfect food for a barbecue

The summer is just a few weeks away, maybe it’s already started where you live? Even though I’ll still have to wait a couple of weeks I’m totally excited and there’s no need for me to explain how much I love this season! There’s so many things to love about the summer and barbecues with friends and family is one of the reasons I love the summer so much.

Since we’re mostly talking about health and healthy alternatives here I find it important to discuss that aspect while talking about barbecue parties as well. Is that kind of food healthy? Are there any vegetarian alternatives? That’s just a few of the frequently asked question.

Yes! There are healthy barbecue alternatives and it’s totally possible to make a vegetarian barbecue stick. Instead of using meat on the stick, you can use pineapple, onion, halloumi and pickled chillies. Lime makes a great taste addition for a vegetarian barbecue stick. Another vegetarian alternative consists of white whole mushrooms, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, zucchini and red onion. That one is real tasty!

If you’re not looking for a vegetarian alternative but would like to replace the traditional meat you can always try with chicken or fish. Chicken, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes and meat of lamb makes a great combination on a barbecue stick and you can add a few potatoes to make it a perfect taste sensation.
