How to get quality time with your kids

It’s no secret that most moms, or at least many moms, wish they could spend more time with their kids. A busy schedule at work, with overtime and late working hours, makes it difficult for many of us to spend enough time with the kids. I know it can be hard not to feel guilty about it, but honestly, the most important thing is to make the best of every moment with the kids! It doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult, it’s just about getting real quality in the everyday life.

I know we all like different things, but I’ve made a list of fun things to do with the kids. I don’t know about you and your kids, but I really like these activities and so does my kids!

  1. Rent a movie – I love to light some candles, put a rented dvd in the dvd-player, make some popcorn and have a great evening in the couch with the kids. We choose the movie together, to get something that we all enjoy, and we always bring some blankets to the couch to make the evening cosy. The perfect, relaxing activity for a Friday night (or any other night).
  2. Create with papier-mâché – This is a real fun activity where you get to bring your childhood back. It’s messy and a bit time-consuming, but it’s fun for the entire family! It’s not expensive at all, you just need some adhesive, some paper from newspapers, balloons and some plastic covers to avoid getting papier-mâché all over the place 🙂
  3. Go for a picnic – Prepare a meal (sandwiches, salad, cookies or whatever you like) and head out in the woods, to a playground or to the lake. Go whereever you’d like and play all day long (or just for a while) and relax from all duties. It’s fun, you’ll get some fresh air and the kids will enjoy it for sure!
  4. Write stories together – This is a great thing to do since it’s fun and educating at the same time. Everyone starts writing a few sentences on a story, set the alarm clock on 3 minutes and when the time is up, you send the story to the person behind you, and everyone does the same. Set the clock again, keep writing on your story (without looking at the previous sentences) and repeat this procedure after 3 minutes. The stories will be all crazy and it will be real fun for all of you to read them afterwards. The kids get to train their writing skills and you get to have real fun with them. Fantastic activity if you ask me.

These are some of the activities I like to do with my kids when we have time off together. Do you have more activities to add?

My name is Tezz and I'm a 29-years-old mother of 2. I spend most of my time at soccer practice, hockey practice or floor ball practice with my sons, but I also enjoy exercising myself. I love zumba, aerobics, jogging and of course power walking. My interest in health and training has grown since I became a mom. It all started when I wanted to lose a few extra pounds that I gained during my pregnancies, but it increased to become an honest interest in exercising and today I find it important to have a healthy lifestyle. I've also worked as a skincare consultant for a couple of years and I love beauty related topics just as much as health related topics. I love makeup and skincare and I'm looking forward to share my hobbies with you!
