Discover new and healthy ways to eat fruit

The winter is, as you’ve probably noticed by now, a very dark period with few sun hours. The lack of sun, fresh air (many people tend to stay inside most of the time during winter) and light makes us sensitive and more likely to catch various colds and viruses. This means it’s more important than ever to make sure you get enough minerals and vitamins, which means it’s of great importance that you include fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet on a daily basis.

Include oranges in your diet

Most fruit is delicious, but some are more fresh and tasty than others. I think oranges are the most delicious fruit you can find (along with mango), and if you ask me I’d say there’s nothing tastier than an orange smoothie. Oranges are among the healthiest fruits you can find, so I’d say it’d be a good idea for you to include oranges in your daily diet. Here is a real tasty orange smoothie recipe.

Ingredients:

Fresh squeezed orange juice
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
5 -6 ice cubes

Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients with help from a blender.
  • Serve in 2-3 glasses.
  • Enjoy!

 

Enjoy a delicious fruit soup

You’ve probably tried a fruit smoothie or a fruit salad, but have you tried a delicious and nutritious fruit soup? There are plenty of great recipes, and this sweet potato and pear soup is one of my favourites. Try it if you’d like to taste something different but delicious!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 tablespoons butter
2 yellow onions, chopped
2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
4 pears, peeled and diced
6 -8 cups chicken broth or 6 -8 cups vegetable broth
1 -2 cup Greek yogurt
chopped fresh mint or parsley, to garnish

You can also add some white wine if you want.

Directions:

  • Melt the butter in a large pot at medium heat, and sauté onion for 2-3 minutes until softened but not brown.
  • Add sweet potato and pear, sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add chicken broth, bring to boil, simmer for approx. 25 minutes.
  • Leave the soap to cool for approx. 30 minutes.
  • Process chicken broth, pears and sweet potatoes in a blender until they’ve become smooth.
  • Reheat the soup in the pot, without letting it boil again. Add a little yougurt and garnish with some parsley.
  • Serve and enjoy!
