No more excuses – time to reach the goal

The new year is here, and even if you forgot to give some New Years values, it’s still not too late to make some changes. You can still promise yourself to start a healthier life, or to lose some weight before the summer. You’ve got plenty of time to succeed, and nothing can stop you as long as you’re focused!

I’ve decided to lose some weight this year, not much, maybe 5 kgs or so, and I think I’ve got a pretty good plan to help me succeed as well. I thought I’d share my steps to success with you. Maybe you can add some ideas to my plan?

My way to success

I did lose some weight last year, about 8 kgs to be specific, which isn’t strange considering the fact that I turned down candy, soft drinks and snacks completely, which was a huge difference from my life before that… This year I’ve got new ideas, and I hope they will help me reach my ideal weight once and for all.

 

  • No candy and snacks, except from 1 weekend each month. It was ok to turn it down completely, but it can be fun to be able to reward myself with some candy every now and then, and 1 time per month seems reasonable.
  • More exercising! I’ve got the new Zumba fitness for Kinect, I’ve got time on my hands so that I can start jogging more than I already do, and I’ve got a cross trainer at home. I will start training regularly, at least 4 times per week, plus daily power walks.
  • Eat less. I love food, and that’s great, but it’s not necessary to eat three servings just because you like a certain dish. From now on I will stop eating when I’m full, that’s a big step on the road towards permanent weight loss.
  • Try at least one new sport this year. It could be boxing, it could be tennis… It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as I try at least one new sport during 2013.
  • Start an exercise group. Sure, I can exercise on my own, but it’s a lot more fun if you’ve got company, and that’s why I’m planning on starting an exercise group in the surroundings. I thought it would be a good idea since we could meet once every week to take power walks, ski tours, play tennis or golf or whatever we’d like. We can motivate each other and lift each other from failing.
