Outdoor activities with your family

The days are getting longer and it’s easy to see that the spring is coming, even though we still have plenty of snow on the ground. Within a few months it will be green and a lot warmer, and it will be a lot easier to plan outdoor activities for you and your family.

As I’ve mentioned before it’s important for you, as well as for your family to relax and have fun together, so I thought it would be suitable to make a list of activities you can do together. Maybe it can give you some inspiration to use now or later this year.

  • Cross-country skiing – Lots of fun, and the whole family can participate. Bring some hot chocolate, some sandwiches and enjoy a day out in the winter sun!
  • Bowling – Yes, I said outdoor activities, but indoor activities can be fun as well. Bowling is an activity which the entire family can appreciate. It’s not about winning, just about having fun.
  • Skating – Bring your family and friends and skate on the local skating arena, on the lake or anywhere where you can find a well managed ice without a layer of snow. Play some hockey if you want, or just practice your skating technique!

It will soon be here and there are lots of lots of things to do…

  • Bike tour – Take your kids or your partner on a bike tour in the surroundings. Discover new signs of spring, such as the first flowers, green grass etc.
  • Horseback riding – It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced rider or a total beginner. Sign up for a riding tour along with a guide and enjoy the nature from the horseback.
  • Soccer tournaments – Arrange a soccer tournament in the neighbourhood now that you can play on the grass again. It will be a fun day for all ages!

A wonderful time for sure, and perfect for outdoor activities.

  • A day at the beach – Bring your family and head off to the beach! Bring your picnic bag and enjoy the sun. Play some beachvolley, swim in the lake or the sea and have fun.
  • Hiking in the woods – The days can be warm, so it can be nice to stay in the shadow for a few hours. Head out in the woods and enjoy the wildlife for a few hours.
  • Explore the surroundings – Summer is a perfect time to explore the surroundings. Have you visited all the beaches nearby? All the cities? All the museums? Take the bike, or the car if preferred, and explore the area where you live.

Just because the summer is over it doesn’t mean you can’t stay outside.

  • Harvest blueberries – Take your family with you and harvest blueberries. It’s fun, it’s relaxing to spend time in the woods, and you can bake a tasty pie afterwards.
  • Harvest apples in the garden – This is a fun thing to do as a family. Harvest apples, bake a pie, collect fallen leaves and prepare for winter.

As you can see there are plenty of things to do whether it’s spring or autumn. Would you like to add more ideas to the list? It would be greatly appreciated!

I love zumba, aerobics, jogging and of course power walking. My interest in health and training has grown since I became a mom. It all started when I wanted to lose a few extra pounds that I gained during my pregnancies, but it increased to become an honest interest in exercising and today I find it important to have a healthy lifestyle. I've also worked as a skincare consultant for a couple of years and I love beauty related topics just as much as health related topics. I love makeup and skincare and I'm looking forward to share my hobbies with you!
