How to make home-made fruit yogurt

Do you like yogurt? Maybe it’s your favourite breakfast? Or maybe you liked it when you were a little kid, but not anymore since you don’t like the fact that most yogurts that can be found in the supermarket are very processed and unnatural. Well, there is a solution, a great one actually! You can make your own fruit yogurt and it’s not even difficult.

Yogurt with fruit – a healthy choice

The first thing for you to do is to make a fruit compote. You need a saucepan, you need peeled fruit of your choice and you need salt as well as honey. You also need 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of water. You need to place the salt, honey and of course the fruit into the saucepan. Make sure to stir while waiting for it to simmer. Next thing to do is to mix cornstarch and water and stir until the cornstarch is dissolved. When this is done you can add it to the fruit in the saucepan. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, but don’t forget to stir frequently.

After you’ve made the fruit compote it’s time to add the yougurt. Use a sugar-free alternative without taste additives in the supermarket and make it sweetened with help from honey. Then place it on top of the fruit compote. This will give you a healthy, tasty fruit yogurt without unhealthy additives.

Why making your own yogurt

You might wonder why it would be a good idea to make your own fruit compote just to get a tasty yougurt, when there are so many alternatives in the shop, but there are actually several reasons why this is a good idea.

  • You can choose the taste yourself. If you like exotic fruits you can make a compote with mango and papaya. If you prefer pears and apples, then make it a compote with pears and apples.
  • Everyone in the family can have their own yogurt, and you’ll still just have to buy the natural yogurt in the shop since you make the rest at home. Very convenient.
  • Much healthier than the processed fruit yogurt that can be bought in the supermarket. You know exactly what’s in it, and there won’t be any sugar.

There are many reasons to try this as you can see, and I have to say it’s a lot tastier than ordinary yogurt.
