A healthier lifestyle has to be introduced stepwise of course, it’s very hard to change everything from one day to another, but you can always do small things every day to start living a healthier life, and you’ll soon be able to see the health improvements.

With this said, a good thing to start with can be to start baking your own bread, instead of buying something in the supermarket, which is, quite frankly, not really good for your health. Oat is great if you want to lower the cholesterol level, and it might also help if you want to lose weight, as it makes you feel full, without having to eat plenty of bread slices. Honey can be used instead of sugar, to give the bread a sweet taste, without the dangers which comes with added sugar. With this in mind; here is a great recipe for you to try! You will get approx. 10-15 slices, and it’s easy to bake this bread.

  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 cup rolled oats.
  • 1 1/3 cups whole-wheat flour. White whole-wheat flour can also be used.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 8 ounces low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup honey of any mild kind
  • 3/4 cup low-fat milk

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F, and put the rack in the middle of the oven. Prepare a loaf pan, and sprinkle oats in it, enough to coat the bottom and the sides of the pan.
  2. Stir together whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Use a fork and beat together 1 cup oats, yogurt, egg, oil and honey in a medium bowl until well blended. Stir in milk. When this is done, stir in the yogurt mixture and stir gently. Put the entire batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle some oats on top.
  3. Bake in the oven for approx 50 minutes, until the top starts getting well browned. Try putting a toothpick in the middle, and make sure it comes out clean. That means the bread is ready to take out from the oven.
  4. Leave in the loaf pan for 15 minutes, then remove it from the pan, and let cool on the rack for approx. 45 minutes. Enjoy!

This is just one of all the healthy recipes you can try if you want to live healthy in the future. Try baking it when you’ve got a few hours to spare (only takes 20 minutes of active time, but 50 in the oven), and enjoy the delicious taste of a bread that is great for your general health!
