Did you know that chess is one of the most popular games in the world? It is actually, and it’s also surprisingly good for your health, which can be really interesting to know. How can this be, you might wonder. Well, it’s actually quite simple. It helps activating your brain, and it helps developing both sides of it.

The best type of physical training is the one which activates both sides of the brain. Chess is not very physical, but it does activate both the left hemisphere, which is the side that handles the recognition, and the right hemisphere, where pattern recognition is included.

Chess does not only activate your brain, it also helps preventing Alzheimer’s disease. Are you afraid of developing anxiety or depressions? Then you should play chess regularly! This game actually helps preventing these issues as well.

Do you know anyone who suffers from schizophrenia? Then it’s a good idea to play chess with him or her. The fact that the game requires a lot of attention and planning makes it a great activity for schizophrenic persons. Several studies shows that patients suffering from schizophrenia improve their condition by playing chess on a daily basis.

Would you like to make it easier for your kids to learn things in school? Then I’ve got a good advice. Play chess with them at home! This will improve their problem-solving capabilities, and it will also improve their ability to learn how to read and to understand maths.

Chess is a great hobby in so many ways, and except from the facts above, it’s also a very fun game to play. Would you like to improve your memory and your creativity while having lots of fun? Then you should start playing chess right away!

About the author

My name is Tezz and I'm a 29-years-old mother of 2. I spend most of my time at soccer practice, hockey practice or floor ball practice with my sons, but I also enjoy exercising myself. I love zumba, aerobics, jogging and of course power walking. My interest in health and training has grown since I became a mom. It all started when I wanted to lose a few extra pounds that I gained during my pregnancies, but it increased to become an honest interest in exercising and today I find it important to have a healthy lifestyle. I've also worked as a skincare consultant for a couple of years and I love beauty related topics just as much as health related topics. I love makeup and skincare and I'm looking forward to share my hobbies with you!
