How to make your own facial mask and body scrub
The autumn will soon take over, and the colder temperatures and the autumn winds will be quite a challenge for your skin. Many people experience a more dry and sensitive skin during autumn and winter seasons, and it’s very important that you take good care of your skin to keep it smooth and hydrated during this period.
When you’re thinking of skin care you may see dollar signs before you, and you may be afraid that it will cost you a fortune, but the fact is you can get many good products without paying much at all. A facial mask is just one of the products you can make at home, without expensive products, and without spending hours at the spa. If you tend to develop puffiness in your face you may want to try a mask made of cocoa and coffee.
Cocoa and coffee mask
- 4 tablespoons ground coffee beans
- 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 8 tablespoons unsweetened yogurt or coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons honey (only for dry skin)
- Mix cocoa and coffee in a bowl.
- Add yogurt and stir until it turns into a paste.
- Stir in the honey, preferrably warm.
- Apply to the face and let dry before it’s removed with a wet cloth.
The face is not the only part of the body where the skin can get dry during cold seasons though. Your entire body needs care, and you can create your own body scrub as well, saving both time and money, but still with great result.
Coffee can be used for this purpose as well, and you don’t need several expensive products to put in this mixture either.
Coffee body scrub
- 2 cups ground coffee
- ½ cup raw sugar
- 3 tablespoons jojoba oil (sunflower oil can be used as well)
- Mix all ingredients.
- Take a hot shower before applying the scrub on your skin.
- Rub the scrub on your skin with circular motions.
- Rinse off and apply a hydrating and moisturizing body lotion when the body scrub is removed.
