There are no doubts that pineapples are tasty, refreshing and delicious, right? But did you know they can actually be a great boost for your health as well? Yeah, it’s true! Pineapples have plenty of health benefits, and I will tell you about a few of them, just to make it more obvious why you should make sure to include these tasty fruits in your diet.

Minerals and vitamins

You’re probably well aware of the fact that vitamins and minerals are vital for your health, but did you know that pineapples are packed with both? You will get a boost of vitamin A, potassium, calcium, vitamin C and phosphorus just by eating pineapples. Great, isn’t it? Pineapples also contains bromelain, which helps suppressing coughs. Great during fall that is, with all the coughs and colds usually coming up during this season.

The body needs manganese to build stronger bones and connective tissues, and you can actually get most of the required manganese by eating pineapples. That way you’ll be able to strenghten your bones, which will be great for your general health.

Pineapples also has some anti-inflammatory qualities, which means you can use it to improve your condition if you suffer from a disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome, just to mention a few examples.

The bromelain within the pineapple has one more, very important, health benefit. It has anti-cancer properties. This means it may help prevent various types of cancer. It also helps you digest food in a better way, which may help you get a better functioning bowel system as well as losing weight in a more simple way.

Like I said before, this is a really delicious fruit. It can nonetheless be nice to find some other way to use it than just eating it plain, as it is. My suggestion is that you start your day with a tasty pineapple smoothie. That way you’ll get a great start, with plenty of vitamins, and you’ll also get in a better mood, as it’s a truly refreshing breakfast. Here’s a simple recipe that can be used to create a tasty smoothie.

  • 4 ice cubes
  • Fresh pineapple ā€“ peeled and divided in cubes
  • 1 banana ā€“ peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice

Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until it’s smooth enough. Enjoy!
