Why it’s important to do stretches

Do you enjoy exercising? Great! Just make sure to remember one thing before and after each training session… Do stretches before and after every training session! It doesn’t matter if you’ve been running for half an hour or if you’ve been participating in an aerobics class. It’s just as important to do stretches either way.

But why is it so important then? Well, there are actually several reason but first of all it helps prevent injuries. You can add stretching to your daily fitness routine as a way of warming up before you move on to the rest of the fitness program. It’s a great way to warm up before a training session, but don’t do static stretching before a game as it temporarily slows down the muscle activation.

By warming up you increase your heart rate before the workout and you prepare the body for hard physical training. That reduces the injury risk a lot. Stretching also prepares the joints for movement, which is vital if you want to achieve great training results.

The optimal way to use stretching is to do dynamic stretching before your training session and static stretching afterwards.

There are a few things to remember when you’re doing stretches. First of all you need to stop if you feel any kind of pain. Pain is no good! You should also make sure to hold each stretch for 15-30 seconds to gain positive results. Don’t force your body in any way, take it all slowly and gradually until your joints and muscles are warmed up.

After the training session you will benefit from stretching as well, since it helps slow your heart rate to a normal rate. It also helps the muscles relax and it will help you avoid stiffness in muscles.

With this said, stretching is terribly important and you should make sure to include it in any training program. That’s the best way to build muscles and gain flexibility!
